Itinerary

Day 1

LAMANAI TOUR

Transfer from San Pedro, Ambergris Cay to Corozal onboard the “Thunderboat Water Taxi” or travel by Air - Check in at Mirador Hotel or Tony's Inn
 
Then we travel overland to Orange Walk Town where we our waiting boat takes us up the New River 22 miles to the archaeological sites of Lamanai. Getting to Lamanai is half the fun. Travel through miles of virgin river fauna, viewing majestic trees with overhanging air plants and colorful Orchids. The boat ride is a wonderful opportunity for wildlife spotting as well, with 100 + variety of tropical birds. Along the way see crocodiles floating near the river's edge, turtles, camouflaged bats and the "Jesus Christ Bird" walk on water.

Up arrival, Your boat will dock at the Lamanai Welcome Center where your exploration will begin. Well kept paths though ancient jungle will lead you to the monuments and temples. Howler Monkeys relaxing on many of the huge Ceiba trees can be seen all over the site, Toucans are ever present as well as countless other bird species.

Day 2 

CROOKED TREE & BABOON SACTUARY TOUR

Start the day with a delicious Belizean breakfast where you can admire the sunrise and enjoy a walk along the beach.

The Baboon Sanctuary is a fascinating tour. The sanctuary covers 18 square miles and is made up of villagers and landowners committed to conserve and preserve the habitat necessary to insure a healthy population of black howler monkeys. Here you can appreciate their swinging from one branch to another with their little ones…..a very fascinating experience that mother nature gives us in a natural environment. 

Lunch

Afterwards we make are way back and stop to visit Crooked Tree Wildlife Sanctuary, where an expansive network of inland lagoons, marshes, and waterways provides an abundant food source for a diverse population of birds, the most notable being the Jabiru Stork. Other wildlife that can be admired are the black howler monkeys, Morelet’s crocodile, coati mundi and several species of turtle and iguana.

Lamanai Mayan Site (Full Day)
Lamanai, just about 30 miles south of Corozal is very popular, and includes a trip down the New River to the site - From Corozal Town we travel overland to Orange Walk Town where we our waiting boat takes us 22 miles up the New River lagoon and to the archaeological sites
of Lamanai.

The boat trip by itself is fascinating and all along the way you will enjoy looking at the diverse flora and fauna and wildlife along the waters edge.

“Cerros” late pre classic maya site (Half Day)
Its twenty-minutes by boat from Corozal Town across the Corozal-Chetumal Bay to Cerros. Afterwards head up the nearby New River, for an opportunity to view a wide variety of wildlife including water birds, crocodiles and manatee.
