weave their own nets in this Garifuna fishing village ....
Hopkins
is located 8 miles south of Dangriga. A four-mile dirt access
road leads to Hopkins from the Southern Highway. The main
road in town has been paved. (Pop.1,000).
Hopkins village has nice beaches and a growing number
restaurant/bar and lodging facilities along the beach. Go
sailing, kayaking, fishing or boat to the Cayes. Massive
bamboo stands, strangler figs and iguanas are some of the
sites that await a trip up nearby Boom Creek.
| Sittee River Village is a small Creole community
four miles south of Hopkins via a dirt road. The Southern
Highway entrance road passes the ruins of a 19th century
sugar mill which has been designated a park. There
is a small general store with camping and a community
phone on the main village road.

10 mile Hopkins and Sittee Point seaside loop connects
to the Southern highway.
Bus
Bus service from Punta Gorda
and Placencia stops at the entrance roads
to Hopkins,
Sittee River and in Maya Center. Shuttle bus leaves Dangriga
for
Hopkins.
Boat
There are a number of local boat operators in Dangriga
who can take you.
