SAMPLE INCLUSIVE CAYO & PLACENCIA FAMILY ITINERARY - 8 Nights / 9 Days

DAY 1 - Arrive at BZE International Airport where your guide will be waiting for you at the passenger exit area with a sign with your name on it. Transfer by road to Cayo District with a stop at the Belize Zoo, if your flight arrival-time permits.

DAY 2 - If you’d like to try your hand at making tortillas, stop by the fogon deck around 7:30 to learn how.  After breakfast begin your adventure  with some easy canoeing (20-30 minutes) down the Macal River to visit a nearby Blue Morpho Butterfly Farm and a fun and informative Natural History Museum. Along the way look closely and you are likely to spot huge iguanas in the treetops. See who can spot the most birds!  

Afternoon - After a ride back and lunch at duPlooy’s, take a short (1 hour) horseback ride along trails leading to  “Valley View” for a picturesque and inspiring view of the farming valley below. On the return get dropped off along the Macal River for some fun tubing (20 minutes) downstream to our beach or choose a kid-friendly tour of Belize Botanic Gardens. 

DAY 3 - With so many Maya sites in the area, you gotta see at least one!

Option 1 - After breakfast head out to San Ignacio Town for a guided tour of Cahal Pech Maya site; Afterwards theres plenty of time to explore around town and have lunch at a popular local restaurant serving great tasting Belizean and International fare. After lunch enjoy an interactive tour of the Iguana Conservation Project. This hands-on tour is both fun and educational and where you can hold and have your picture taken holding baby iguanas. 

Option 2 - Only six miles away with enough space to run free and enough temples for the most energetic climbers, Xunantunich is a great one for families. Adventurous family members can choose to horseback ride to Xunantunich (2 Hours) and non-riders can go by road and meet at the site. After your guided tour of the site, head for Benny's, a favorite local restaurant for a lunch of tasty Belizean fare. After lunch, head into San Ignacio Town to visit the Iguana Conservation Project.

Evening - Be amazed at the clarity of the night sky and at seeing so many stars. Accompanied by a symphony of jungle night sounds, experience a guided night walk at duPlooy’s. Listen as the owls and bats come out to hunt and gather. Sounds come from everywhere as many species such as frogs and tarantulas thrive in the late hour of the evening.

DAY 4 - After passing through a Mennonite farming community you arrive at Barton Creek for some Cave Canoeing. Your guide will paddle slowly through while you gaze upward at incredible cathedral-like formations, re- telling stories about the cave's history as it relates to the Maya. From the cave's entrance it's about a mile through the cave to the stopping point.

Then it’s up to the Mountain Pine Ridge to explore the Rio Frio Cave and for some fun time playing in the natural cascading waterfalls and water-slides at Rio On Pools.

DAY 5 - Departure - Transfer over-land to Placencia with a stop for a picnic and swim at the Inland Blue Hole.

DAY 6, 7 & 8 - These days are yours to plan activities as you wish with one snorkel trip to Laughing Bird Caye or one Monkey River Tour included. If you like, you can organize additional activities for your family.

Fun Things to Do - Spend the day on the beach and around the pool, enjoy complimentary sea kayaks and hobie cats - Make your way on foot, bicycle or taxi to Placencia Village, look around, visit some of the craft/gift shops, walk along the beach; stop by Tutti Frutti for a cooling homemade gelato.

DAY 9 - Departure - Local flight from Placencia to BZE International; depart with fond memories.

* Children, six and under, are free and from ages 7-12 pay half price when sharing a room with 2 adults. Important Exclusion - Children pay full price for domestic air-fare and tours from Placencia.

* Price ranges are for (High Season) Dec.1 - May 30 and reflect the cost difference between the hotel with the lowest rate which includes a Standard room and the hotel with the highest rate for an Upgraded room. Some Seaside hotels have a (Holiday or Peak Season) rate during the Christmas Holidays (dates vary).

* Ask about special Low Season rates June 1 - Nov. 30 and special discounts for families of 6 or more.

* This Package begins from the time you leave the airport exit terminal to when you are ready to board again for your flight home or onward destination. DAY 6, 7 & 8 - Because the Belize Barrier Reef practically begins in front of your room you can have fun snorkeling and sea kayaking anytime; Spend some time on the beach and take advantage of complimentary snorkel equipment and use of sea kayaks. This package includes 1 guided snorkel excursion to one of the nearby designated snorkel sites. If you like, you can organize additional activities for your family after you arrive.

DAY 9 - Departure – Boat Transfer back to the San Pedro Air Strip for your short flight to the BZE International Airport; Depart with fond memories.
